Margaret E. (Barnard) Brown

 March 9, 1915 ~ May 13, 2003

Margaret E. Brown went to be with her Lord on May 13, 2003.

She was born March 9, 1915, in Archie, Missouri, to Wilber and Ina Barnard.

She married Arley E. Brown on August 3, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. One of Mrs. Brown's fondest memories was when she was being pushed down the road by her new husband, in a wheelbarrow, which was traditional at that time, to announce the marriage. They farmed in the Pocasset area for several years prior to moving to Chickasha in 1948, where they made their home for nearly 40 years.

Mrs. Brown worked in nursing facilities and at the Grady Memorial Hospital for many years. Mr. Brown retired from the Rock Island Railroad in 1976.

During their early retirement, the Browns, his three brothers, sister, and their spouses enjoyed traveling together in their Airstream recreational vehicles.

They spent winters in south Texas and summers in Colorado until they moved to Zepheryhills, Florida, in 1985.

Her husband passed away in January of 1992. Mrs. Brown returned to Chickasha February of 1997, where she resided at Nowata Gardens Apartments. In September of 2001, she elected to make her home at the I.H.S. of Moore Nursing Home, where she resided until her death.

She is survived by two sons, and two daughters, Dale E. Brown and his wife Ginger, Arlene Tate and her husband Leon, living in Tennessee, Norene Tinsley and her husband Charles, and Lonnie Brown and his wife Paula, living in Oklahoma. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

One of her great grandchildren sent her e-mail thanking her for a Christmas card containing stickers and tattoos. He described the gift as "neat and cool and awesome and funny." Mrs. Brown's family uses those same words to describe her today. One of her favorite phrases was "God wants us to bloom wherever he plants us." She lived by those words her entire life.

A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held at the I.H.S. of Moore Nursing Home on Friday, May 16, 2003, at 2:00 p.m.
