ARLINGTON - Charles Hugh Brown, 71, a retired air traffic controller, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2003, at St. Paul's University Hospital in Dallas.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Monday at Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington. Burial: Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Charles was Born November 3, 1932, in Waurika, Okla.
He was stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth. He served in Japan during the Korean conflict with the Air Force. He received National Service Defense and Good Conduct medals. Charles retired after 31 years as an air traffic controller.
After retirement, he had a landscaping business. His hobbies were woodworking and making furniture for the family. He wrote short stories and also built playhouses for both his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington.
He was preceded in death by son Brian Hugh Brown in 1964.
Survivors: Wife of 49 years, Dorothy Brown; daughters: Sharon Lynn Brown of Dallas, Deborah Kay Brown and husband, Dr. Marvin Brown, of San Antonio, and Beverly Jean Dunn and husband, Mark Dunn, of Arlington; granddaughters: Claire Elizabeth Dunn and Caroline Elise Dunn; sisters: Marie Miser of Missouri City and Sue Waldron of Midland.
