Birdie M. Ellis Brown was born northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma on September 13, 1890 and passed away March 28, 1990.
Her husband was Walter J. Ellis and her mother was Samantha M. Ellis. Birdie was one of eight children.
Walter Ellis, her father, was a farmer.
The family left Oklahoma in 1913 for Arizona. They traveled by covered wagon and teams of horses. The trip took three months, as they had to work on the way to earn money for food and sundries and also to rest the horses.
Birdie married John Frederick Brown in Los Lunas, New Mexico on the way to their new home in Arizona. This was in 1913.
They settled in Florence, Arizona, where their family was started. Five children were born of this marriage, Carl, now deceased, Lora, Wesley, Irene and Carol.
Birdie's husband, John Brown, died in August, 1989. Birdie will join her husband in Rose Hills Mausoleum.
Birdie was the late daughter-in-law of John and Rosa Brown of the Canadian community northwest of Leedey and also sister-in-law of the late Otto Brown who lived northwest of Leedey.
