Amelia 'Nene' Brown was born August 14, 1922 in Wabash, Arkansas to the late Luberta and Percy Kelly Sr.
She came to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1959 where she became a member of St. James Baptist Church.
She married Frank Brown on May 23, 1967.
She worked as a domestic caregiver for more than 30 years until her retirement.
In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking her famous sweet potato pies, maintaining her yard, and styling in the latest fashions for church.
On Friday, April 3, 2015, Nene died in Lawton.
She is proceeded in death by her husband: Frank Brown; three brothers: Percy Kelly, Jr., Steve Kelly, Sr., and Charles Kelly; and four sisters: Alberta Long, Mary Lee Davis, Rosie Lee Stormer, and Viola James.
She leaves to mourn one sister: Ruth Ella Jefferson, Monee, Illinois; her daughter: Carolyn Collins, New Haven, Indiana; nieces and nephews who she served as a second mother: Larry Stormer and Joyce Mabry, Lawton; Kathy McNeil and Donald Stormer, Plano, Texas; special great nieces and nephews: Gregory Broomfield, Lawton; D'Onyus Bowman, Little Rock, Arkansas; Bryanna Mabry, Edmond, Oklahoma; Tanisha Broomfield, South Dallas, Texas; a special great-great niece: Grace Rose Stormer, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
