It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Earl Brossard, who passed away peacefully on June 7th at the age of 86 in Sherman, Texas. Born on March 17, 1938, in Eden Valley, Minnesota, Gary was the beloved only son of Earl and Blanche Brossard (Rexford).
Gary grew up in Eden Valley, Minnesota and graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1956.
After high school, Gary honorably served in the United States Navy. During his service, he was a machinist mate. Following his Navy career, he married Shirley Brossard (Peterson) in 1961 from Litchfield, MN and together they raised three children: Sherri Brossard, Todd Brossard, and Guy Brossard.
Gary went on to pursue a career in various facets from a machinist, to owning a gas station to real estate. Gary’s life took him to various locations spending time in Nevada, Arizona, North Texas, and Oklahoma.
Known for his straightforward attitude, Gary was a no-nonsense kind of guy who valued honesty, integrity, and hard work. His friends and family valued his candid nature and reliable character.
Gary found joy in hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening, often dedicating his leisure hours to savoring a cup of coffee while tinkering in his garage. He was a member of The American Legion Post 381 in Eden Valley for 50 years.
Gary is survived by his loving family: his spouse of 63 years, Shirley Brossard (Peterson); his children, Sherri Brossard (Husband Jan de Jong), Todd Brossard (Wife Judi Brossard (Kubanek), and Guy Brossard; his grandchildren, [Tommy Brossard, Nicole White (Brossard), Alex Brossard, Nathan Brossard, Joseph Ornberg, David Ornberg, and Katie Wrzos; his sister, Linda Gail Lippert (Brossard); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Blanche Brossard, and 4 sisters and brothers-in-law.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at Church of God in Eden Valley [553 Maple St.], with a service at 1PM-4PM CST. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and pay their respects.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of family, determination, and perseverance will endure eternally.
