Chester Lee Brooks, Jr., age 78, passed away on August 22, 2021. Chet was born on September 9, 1942 to Chester Lee Brooks and Helen Camp Brooks in Bartlesville Oklahoma. Chester graduated from College High School in Bartlesville in 1961. He attended Oklahoma State University and earned a degree in Forestry. Chet had many accomplishments during his life. He served The Delaware Tribe of Indians for more than 35 years in many different capacities. He was the acting Chief of The Delaware Tribe. The relationships that he gained while working with the tribe were very special to him. He was a strong leader and mentor. He had a wealth of knowledge about The Delaware Tribe. His heritage was something he was very proud of. The Delaware Tribe and the people were a very important part of his life.
Chet was survived by his five children, Robert "Reb" Brooks of Bartlesville, Travis Brooks of Tulsa, Ian Brooks of Tulsa, Chester "Lee" Brooks III of Bartlesville and Chimalus Brooks of Tulsa. Several grandchildren. He was also survived by his brother Larry "Joe" Brooks of Bartlesville, two nephews, Johnny Brooks of Oklahoma City, Shane Brooks of Shawnee Oklahoma and his niece Shaunda Stanley of Bartlesville. Chet loved his family very much.
Chet was proceeded in death by his parents Chester Lee Brooks and Helen Camp Brooks, his grandmother Mary Sarcoxie and many other family members that he loved dearly.
Chet was one of a kind. He was a very kind and giving man. He will be missed by so many.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Delaware Tribal Center at 5pm. Donations in Chet's memory can be made to the Delaware Tribe Education Fund, 5100 Tuxedo Blvd, Bartlesville, OK 74006
