Visitation begins today, Thursday, August 18, 2005, from 3-8 p.m. at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary in Lamont.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 19, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin, CA for Shorty Brogdon.
Shorty was born in Ryan, Oklahoma, January 21, 1937. He moved with the Brogdon family to California in 1938 as a dust bowl baby. He worked in the fields in California, Oregon and Washington all his younger years. He later formed his own successful custom farming business until failing health caused him to retire. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, always catching more than anyone. He loved gardening, meeting new people, spending time with his family and attending church, New Life in Christ.
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse H. Brogdon and Mary Maness Brogdon and his grandson, Michael T. A. Green. He leaves behind his bride of 50 + years, Emmer Jean Robertson Brogdon, sons, Jesse Brogdon and wife, Debbee, Richard and wife, Amie, Randy and wife, Mona, Tim Brogdon, Steve Brogdon and David Brogdon; daughters, Debbie Brogdon Brauns and Danielle (Frosty) Brogdon; grandkids, Tonya, Kelly, Tania, Dakota, Jordan, Jade, Tristan and Ashlyn; great grandkids, Kayla, Justin and Tamela; brothers, Raymond Brogdon, Wes Brogdon and Wayne Brogdon; sisters, Jeane Brogdon Reynolds Waldram and Dinah Brogdon; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Shorty loved all of his family, he was loved by all and will be greatly missed by all of his family members and anyone who knew him.
