Coy Lee Brite age 83 of Newcastle, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019 after an extended illness. Coy was born February 2, 1936 in Thomas, Oklahoma to parents Hoyt Lee Brite and Ruby Mae (Wilmeth) Brite. Coy grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1954. The following day after graduation he joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country four years overseas on a ship during the Korean Conflict. Coy was honorably discharged on June 13, 1958 and returned home to Oklahoma.
A short time later, Coy met the love of his life, a young lady from Newcastle by the name of Armona "Mona" Faye Mason. They later married on June 10, 1960 in Carson City, NV and soon made their home in California. Coy and Mona together raised three children, Don, Teresa and Jeff. They lived for 10 years in Stockton, CA and later 23 years in Manteca, CA. Coy worked 34 years for a wholesale electrical supply company called "Valley Electric". He retired in 1995 as the sales manager and purchasing agent.
In 1997, after Mona retired, they moved back to Oklahoma and settled in the Newcastle community. Throughout his life, Coy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping-out with his family. While living in California he enjoyed snorkeling for Abalone in the ocean. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
