Ann Walterene Briscoe was born on December 22, 1932 in Burkburnette, Texas. Her family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma where Ann grew up. It was there that she met and married Lendon Briscoe. The Briscoe family moved to Bakersfield in 1961 and raised four children. Ann held several jobs during her adult life, but the job she loved the most was the 22 years she spent working for the Kern County Roads Department. Although she really enjoyed the work she did for the Roads Department, what she loved most were the people she worked with and the wonderful friendships she made over the years.
Ann was definitely the matriarch of the Briscoe family. Family was the most important thing to her, and her greatest joy in life came from getting as much of her family as possible together for special occasions and holidays. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homecoming: husband of 54 years, Lendon Briscoe; sisters, Wilma Roberson and Clara Phillips and their families; sons, Jerry Briscoe and Scott Briscoe; daughters, Vicky Nokes and husband Rod and Cheryl Perkins and husband Kirk; grandchildren, Christina Pagkalinawan and husband Alvin, Michelle Buxtun, Sherry Johnson and husband David, Steven Buxtun and wife Andrea, Michael Buxtun, Tory Briscoe, Jennifer Briscoe and Ashley Briscoe; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Britney, Emilee, Jenna, Troy, Rebecca, Steven and Nolan.
The family invites you to join them in the celebration of Ann's life on Monday, December 27, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 26, 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission.
