Viola Mae (Petree) Brewer

VIOLA MAE BREWER, daughter of Carl Ray and Opal Fay (Shoopman) Petree, was born June 24, 1936 near Lenora , Oklahoma in Dewey County . She departed this life late Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Seiling Nursing Center at the age of 78 years.

Viola's father worked for Phillips Petroleum and moved the family to the Oklahoma City area where Viola began her school years at Crooked Oak and Valley Brook. She graduated from Edmond High School . She was united in marriage to Emery Russell "Buddy" Brewer, July 1, 1953 at Britton , OK . They lived in Long Beach , CA while Buddy was in basic training in the Navy. When he left for Korea , Viola returned to Oklahoma until his honorable discharge. Due to Buddy's employment with Phillips Petroleum, they made their home in several places including Guymon, Booker, Texas and they retired in Kingfisher. Viola worked as financial secretary for the Central Baptist Association in Kingfisher several years. Mostly, she was a homemaker for her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was an excellent seamstress making many of her four daughters clothes. She also worked as an Avon representative. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School and helping with Vacation Bible School.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband January 10, 2009 . She moved to the Seiling Nursing Center to be near her daughter, Starley Bensch where she has continued to make her home.

Viola is survived by three daughters: Linda Stabel and husband Craig of Amarillo, TX, Starley Bensch and husband Lynden of Mutual and Susan Lemon and husband Marcus of Tulsa, one son, Russell Brewer and wife Cindy of Woodward, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, one sister, Betty Baughman and husband Wayne of Colorado Springs, CO, two brothers, David Petree and wife Mary of Moore and Dale Petree and wife Sandra of Aledo, TX. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Karen Robinson and one granddaughter, Chelsea Brewer.

Memorials can be made to the Seiling Nursing Center with the Redinger Funeral Home-Box 236-Seiling, OK 73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
