James Gordon "Jim" Brewer, Jr.

James G. "Jim" Brewer, Jr., age 69 and resident of Afton, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 in Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville.

James Gordon Brewer, Jr. was born July 26, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was the son of James Gordon Brewer, Sr. and Betty Jean (Watson) Brewer. He grew up in Bartlesville where he attended College High School, graduating with the Sr. Class of 1962.

After high school, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 22 years. In July of 1966, Jim and Bernice Ann Hamera were united in marriage in St. Joseph, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1999.

After the military, Jim furthered his education by attending Wilmington College where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked for the State of Delaware as a Social Worker for 10 years.

In 2006, Jim moved to the Grand Lake area where he loved to fish.

He was a member of St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Langley, Oklahoma. He also was a member of DAV. He sponsored various children overseas, including Paraguay, as well as helping to provide food for the poor through the Catholic Church. He was an avid benefactor to the St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota.

Survivors include his children, Pat Brewer and his wife, Judy, of Laurel, Delaware and Chrystal Nibert and her husband, Scott, of Auburndale, Florida; two sisters, Shelby Dill-Brewer of Cleora, Oklahoma and Jenee Brewer of Bartlesville; four grandchildren, Jenna Pinson, Sarah Nibert, P. J. Brewer and Max Nibert; one great-grandson, Brody Pinson; four nieces and one nephew; as well as by his fishing buddy, "Kenzie". He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Rome Altar Society c/o of the church.

Services for Mr. Brewer will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 11am in St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church, 13286 OK 28, Langley, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
