Anita Waynette Braudrick, age 55, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away on September 24, 2024. Born on October 10, 1968, in Hugo, Oklahoma, Anita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and infectious spirit. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jo Thomas, and her father, Otis Thomas.
Anita is survived by her beloved daughter, Sharolyn Cook, and son-in-law, Chris Cook, of Princeton, Texas; their children, Carsen and Madisen Cook; her beloved son, Flint Braudrick, and his wife, Destiny Braudrick, of Durant, Oklahoma; and their children, Izabella and Damon Braudrick. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy McGahey, and her husband, James, as well as her brothers, Alan Thomas and his wife, Hannah; Jamie Thomas and his wife, Amy; Jason Thomas and his wife Brenda; Edwayne Samis III and his wife, Jessica; Lymon Samis and his wife, Sheila; and Timothy Samis, along with many nieces and nephews. She also left behind her cherished dog, Ofi, who was her loyal emotional support companion.
Anita dedicated many years to serving her community, working for Hugo ISD and as a Home Health Care provider. She was passionate about helping children and the elderly, embodying a spirit of service that defined her life. A proud member of the Choctaw Nation, Anita had a big heart and was always eager to lend a hand to those in need. She was also a member of the Overcomer Church, where she enjoyed attending services on Sundays.
Known for her humor, warmth, and enthusiasm, Anita was a social individual who never met a stranger. She was a devoted grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Nani," and cherished every moment spent with them. Anita enjoyed cooking, baking, and crafting, often sharing her creations with family and friends. She loved family vacations and exploring new places, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
Anita will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, and the joy she brought to those around her. She treated friends like family and created lasting connections with everyone she met.
Family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, October 4th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown's of Durant. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on October 5, 2024, at Brown's Funeral Service, located at 4900 W Hwy 70, Durant, OK 74701. Flowers and plants are welcome.
Anita's vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
