Memorial services for Elgie L. Bratcher, 70, of Thackerville were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 in the Thackerville Baptist Church with Bro. John Kinman and Robbie Peyrot officiating.
Born September 22, 1940, in Gainesville, Texas, the son of George and Mattie Lee Whittington Bratcher, he died Saturday, June 11, 2011, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
Mr. Bratcher had been a resident of Thackerville all of his life and was a 1958 graduate of Thackerville High School. He was a paratrooper with the United States Army. Mr. Bratcher had been employed as a construction field superintendent with E.L. Dalton, now Moss Tech. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of the Thackerville Baptist Church.
Mr. Bratcher was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Bratcher; a sister-in-law, Voncile Bratcher; and special friend Virginia Kretzschmar.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Bratcher, Clayton and Chasity Bratcher and Robert and Nancy Jones, all of Thackerville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Zina and Tim Jones, Melissa and Dennis Hartwell and Rebecca and Dale Reed, all of Thackerville; two brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne and Yolanda Bratcher of Iola, Kansas, and Marion Bratcher of Thackerville; a sister, Martha Bratcher of Thackerville; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bratcher of Thackerville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
