George Oscar "Gordon" Branson, 75, of Guthrie, OK, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 in Guthrie. He was born December 2, 1939 in Graham, OK, to Johnny Guy and Helen Cordelia (Brassfield) Branson.
Gordon lived in Guthrie most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force from February 1957 until February 1961. He was employed by Tinker Air Force Base and was employed by Tinker for just short of 45 years.
He loved attending estate sales and was a collector. Gordon was a family man and took the family on yearly vacations to Colorado. He also loved bluegrass music and football. Gordon's lawn looked like it was carpet.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Norman D. Branson, and his great-nephew, D. J. Collins.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Bambi Branson and Kimberly McBride (Terry) all of Guthrie; 3 grandsons, Jason (Tara) McBride of Guthrie, Justin (Stella) McBride of Coyle, Jordan McBride of Guthrie; and 4 great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Jace, Jameson, and Emma McBride. Gordon is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Shafer of Midwest City and his brother, Kenneth Branson of Guthrie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie, with Brother Maxwell officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Monday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
