Cynthia Louise “Cindy” (Peay) Brannan

Cynthia Louise “Cindy” (Peay) Brannan
May 13, 1949 ~ July 10, 2018

Cynthia “Cindy” Louise Brannan of Ardmore passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was the mother of Zachary Brannan, deceased 1999, Marcia Brannan, Sara Brannan and Cathy Brannan and grandmother of Axel Pierce, Betsy Kate Miller, Slade and Timber Campbell.

Born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado, Cindy was born May 13, 1949, the daughter of Claude J. and Mildred Fern Schoonover Peay. At a young age her family moved to Denver where she graduated high school. After attending Colorado State University for a year, she moved to Massachusetts where she worked as an interior designer and artist. It was there that she met and married Peter Wallace in 1970. In 1974, Cindy, her husband Peter and young son Zachary moved to Marietta to live with her sister Coco and her husband Roger Roper who were operating a cattle ranch on the Bill Washington place southeast of Marietta. Shortly thereafter Peter passed away.

In 1976, Cindy and Rick Brannan were married and lived on the Brannan Ranch southwest of Marietta where they raised Cindy’s son Zachary and three beautiful daughters, Marcia, Sara and Cathy. Cindy was a devoted and loving mother, active in school activities and the community. In the early 1980’s Cindy and Rick divorced, and Cindy moved back to her childhood home in Denver. She worked as a furrier while she cultivated her incredible artistic talent as an accomplished painter. In the early 2000’s, Cindy returned to Oklahoma, settling in Ardmore, to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.

As a mother, Cindy’s love of her children was boundless. Her artistic talent was a joy for many and for those who knew Cindy knew of her years of struggle with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis.

In addition to her immediate family, Cindy is survived by her sisters, Colette “Coco” Grimshaw, Claudia Williamson, Candy Ford, and Chris Cappuccino; her brothers, Grey Peay, Doug Peay, Jim Peay, Steve Peay, and Tom Peay; and numerous nieces and nephews she also loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pamela Peay; son, Zachary Brannan; and nephew, Judd Peay.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 14, between 2 and 4 p.m. at the Charles B. Goddard Center located at 401 1st Avenue Southwest in Ardmore. The family requests donations to the Charles B. Goddard Center Scholarship Fund.
