Marjorie Evelyn (Givens) Bradley

Marjorie Evelyn (Givens) Bradley
May 15, 1922 ~ May 22, 2012 (age 90)

Marjorie Evelyn (Givens) Bradley, a life long resident of Norman, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 surrounded by family.  Marjorie's family and friends will celebrate her life with a memorial service in the chapel at Havenbrook Funeral Home on Saturday, May 26th at 10:00am.  Marjorie was born May 15, 1922 to E. Bruce and Mary B. Givens.  She attended Washington and McKinley grade schools, Norman Junior and Senior high schools, and developed many long friendships with classmates and teachers; graduating Norman High School in 1939.

With the assistance of a student job in the office of the OU Registrar, Marjorie graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1943.  She worked briefly in a military defense facility before accepting a full time position at the University.  After forty years of service, including ten years as Administrator in the office of the Dean of the Graduate College, Marjorie retired in 1984.  Marjorie married Lt. Glenn P. Bradley on March 26, 1944.

Marjorie was recognized by staff, employees, and University Deans for her keen management skills.  During a program, awarding her the two highest staff awards in the same year, Marjorie's name was announced and a small voice was heard yelling in the background "That's my Grandma!"  From the back of the room, a little girl raced to the front, tripping and landing in the University President's lap.  Marjorie's reaction was her famous smile.

Marjorie Evelyn (Givens) Bradley will be interred at a later date in the Santa Fe, New Mexico National Cemetery.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Glenn of the home; daughter, Janet Ribich and husband, Rick of Santa Fe, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Shelly Fairleigh of Forney, Texas, Amy Evans and husband Matthew of Parker, Colorado; and Luke Ribich and wife Heather of Maumelle, Arkansas; and seven great grandchildren, Noah and Olivia Fairleigh, Hannah and Robbie Evans, Rumer, Sydney and Cole Ribich.  She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Norma Jo Amspacher and Mary June Mead.

Memorials may be made in memory of Marjorie to the Norman Regional Health Foundation, P O Box 1665, Norman, OK 73070.
