Richard James Boyles Sr.

January 08, 1970 ~ December 23, 2019

Richard "Richie" James Boyles

Richard James Boyles Sr., a stone mason and long-time resident of Crescent, OK, passed away unexpectedly on December 23rd, 2019 at the age of 49.

Richard is survived by his mother, Clara Hughes of Plainview, TX. His long-time fiance Amber Wyatt of Crescent, OK. His four daughters Valerie Collier and husband Tell Collier of Crescent, OK, Kelsea Boyles of Denver, CO, Callie Cortez and husband Chris Cortez of Guthrie, OK and J’ann Wyatt of Crescent, OK. His three sons Richard Boyles Jr. and wife Savannah Boyles of Crescent, Ok, Trevor Boyles of Crescent, OK and Tristen Wyatt of Crescent, OK. His two granddaughters Meadow Collier and Huntleigh Boyles and his three grandsons, Skyler Collier, Tripp Collier and Ryker Boyles. His two sisters, Twila Williams of Clovis, NM and Mashelle Wilburn of Clovis, NM and his brother Johnny Boyles and wife Amanda Boyles of Lubbock, TX along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Boyles, two brother in laws Robert Williams and Jerry Wilburn, three uncles John Carlise, Mavin Eminger and James Carlisle, long-time friend Perry Witten and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was born on January 8th, 1970 to Richard Boyles and Clara Carlisle Boyles in Portales, NM. After graduating high school, he moved to Oklahoma where he worked with his uncles’ John and Marvin in the oil field. In 1987 he met Carla Harrelson and a year later, they were married. Shortly after getting married, Richard enlisted into the army and did tours in Germany, Somalia during Desert Storm and Korea. On August 18th, 1990, he welcomed his first daughter, Valerie, into the world and then on June 13th, 1993 he welcomed his first son, Richard Jr. Fast forward to 1995 and Richard met his second wife, Megan Litz and his daughter Kelsea of Denver, CO. They were married in 1996 and welcomed his second son Trevor on March 9th, 1997. A couple of years later on August 27th, 1999 he welcomed his third daughter, Callie. He moved to Oklahoma shortly after where he lived for the remainder of his life. He met Amber and her two children Tristen and J’ann in 2010 and spent his remaining years with her.

Richard was one of the most generous and giving people we all knew. He would have given the shirt off his back to help others. If he saw someone had a need, he filled it to the best of his abilities. He loved to feed people, especially with his smoker. Not once did Richard have a get together where there wasn’t way more food than needed. Everyone always went home with leftovers. He also loved the Fourth of July. It was his favorite holiday and he usually outdid the city of Crescent with his firework shows. Richard was an extremely skilled stone mason. It was an art to him and he loved making his clients happy with his “artwork”.

He was a great man who is gone too soon and will be deeply missed by all his family, friends and all who knew him.

Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Crescent VFW with Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
