Gretchen Marie (Semrad) Boyer
April 2, 1961 ~ January 21, 2014

Gretchen Marie (Semrad) Boyer, 52, of Fairview, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loved ones, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Alan Boyer and devoted mother of Gavin and Karley Boyer.

Gretchen was born on April 2, 1961 in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Phillip Semrad of Waukomis, Oklahoma and Nancy Saunders of Austin, Texas.

Gretchen graduated from Round Rock High School, Austin, Texas with the class of 1979. She returned to Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1983. She subsequently earned her license as a certified public accountant, and was self-employed until her death.

Gretchen married Alan Boyer on August 11, 1990 and was active in the Fairview community. She belonged to the Fairview Gamma Mother’s Club, was a sustaining member of the Junior Welfare League, P.E.O., Chapter BS, and started the Fairview AMBUCS chapter, served as chair for Relay for Life as well as Fairview Sports Boosters.

She was a dedicated servant and Eucharistic minister of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Gretchen volunteered extensively for Fairview Public Schools throughout her children’s school careers and was an avid sports fan, attending games and cheering on the Fairview Yellowjackets and the OSU Cowboys. Besides her devotion to her family and career, Gretchen greatly enjoyed travel, including her annual trips to various destinations with her dear friends, cooking, gardening, reading, biking, weekly volleyball games, and many other activities.

Besides her husband, children and parents, Gretchen is survived by her sisters Michelle (Jamie) Goodwin of Austin, TX, Suzanne Monique (Matt) Scheibner of Atlanta, GA, Nichole (Jason) Duderstadt of Pflugerville, TX and brothers Brendan Semrad of Stillwater, OK and Scott Semrad of Deville, LA. Gretchen also leaves behind her dear nieces and nephews, Zane and Ben Goodwin, Gillian and Andrew Duderstadt, Cash Semrad, Whitney (Nick) Mendez, Randi (Oliver) Lackey (Grandnieces Olivia and Addison), Kendra Boyer, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 211 South 5th Street, Okeene, OK

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gavin and Karley Boyer Higher Education Fund with the Fairview Funeral Home Inc acting as custodian of the funds.
