David Robinson Boyd, M.D., passed away March 4, 2013, at home in Norman, OK. David was born to Gail Rounce Boyd and David Robinson Boyd on June 28, 1944 in Sidney, Montana. His father was a naval aviator who died on a mission in the Pacific Theatre in 1944 before David was born.
David came to Norman, Oklahoma in 1946 when his mother became an instructor in the school of music at the University of Oklahoma where she remained teaching for thirty-eight years. David graduated from Norman High School in 1962. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1970. He did an internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland Oregon from 1970-1971. He completed his residency at the University of California San Francisco with a straight Radiation Oncology Fellowship in 1972-1975. David practiced as a Radiation Oncologist at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, California from 1975-1977. He was a consultant to Scripps Green Hospital La Jolla for Radiation Oncology from 1975-1978. He was Director of Radiation Oncology at Tri City Medical Center, Oceanside from 1980-1982 David went into private practice as a Radiation Oncologist with his own freestanding office from 1977 to 1995 when he retired. He moved back to Norman, Oklahoma in 1997.
David is preceded in death by his mother Gail Boyd de Stwolinski and step-father Louis de Stwolinski.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Boyd and daughters Nicole Boyd of La Jolla, CA, Kimberly Boyd of San Diego, CA, and Jill Boyd of Pampano Beach, FL. and granddaughter Samantha Lieras.
A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements for David and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
