The funeral for Glenda Jean Bowling, 68, of Alva will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Judye Pistole and Nathan Gaisford will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa, Kan. Visitation will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Woods County to Francis J. and Grace Hood Davis and died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Alva.
She graduated from Alva High School. She attended business school where she trained to become a medical transcriptionist.
She married Harold David Conard.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist in Phoenix several years.
She married Leonard Bowling in 1970. He preceded her in death.
She attended the Baptist Church, and was a member of Women of the Moose, and was an accomplished writer and poet, being awarded the Golden Poet Award in Washington, D.C., by Bob Hope.
Surviving are one son, James Bryan Conard of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Carol Jean Conard of Alva; and one sister, Melva Seevers of Alva.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to help with the funeral expenses.
