Services for Thomas A. Bowers, retired farmer and rancher of 313 W. Locust Street, Sayre, were held Saturday, July 2, 1949 at 2:30 p.m., in the Sayre Christian Church with Rev. J. N. Gibble and Rev. V. A. Jones officiating.
Mr. Bowers died Thursday at his home in Sayre after a lingering illness.
He was born April 13, 1872 at Memphis, Tennessee, and was married May 21, 1899 at Mt. Ida, Arkansas to Laura Brown Bates.
They came to Sayre in 1932 from Roger Mills county and he has resided here since that time.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Bates Bowers of the home address; three daughters, Mrs. Ova Macklin, Irin Dawkins and Miss Peggy Bowers, all of Sayre; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Grace Puckett of Sayre; one stepson, W. G. Bates of Long Beach, California; two half brothers, F. G. Bowers of Cheyenne; and Ralph Bowers of Baskin, Louisiana; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Two daughters and one son preceded him in death.
