Dr. Keith Lee Bottoms
December 15, 1949 ~ October 4, 2024

Dr. Keith Lee Bottoms, 74, passed away on October 4, 2024, in Broken Arrow, OK. Born on December 15, 1949, in Carter County, OK, he grew to be a man with a profound love for science, education, and the joy of collecting.

Keith graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1968 and immediately started college at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah graduating in 1973. He accepted a teaching position in McDonald County, MO, and worked there 2 years. Keith and family returned to Oklahoma and he started a long career as a math teacher and later high school counselor at Wagoner schools. He received his masters degree in counseling from NSU, Tahlequah OK, during this time and also his doctorate in education from OSU, Stillwater, OK. Keith took a position as principal-superintendent at Plainview School in the Oklahoma panhandle in 1999 and stayed for two years. He returned to northeastern OK and started a new career as a Realtor. Shortly after this, an old friend George Linihan, asked Keith if he would work part-time at Wells Middle School in Catoosa for him. Keith did and later went full-time as a teacher and later high school counselor for many years at Catoosa. Finally, he retired to Broken Arrow, OK and enjoyed traveling with best friends Linda and Wayne Nicholson, being with his family, reading, writing, family genealogy and whatever interesting learning experience came along.

Outside his professional life, Keith was an avid enthusiast of cars, star gazing, and collecting Frankoma pottery. His love for coins and various collectibles was well-known among his friends and family. He was often described as a "science nerd". Above all, Keith had a beautiful heart, always eager to help others, especially children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne (Jones) Bottoms, of their home in Broken Arrow, OK his children Kristi (Bottoms) Lacy and Kelly Bottoms; granddaughter Savannah Bash and two brothers Carl Bottoms and Glen Bottoms; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Verna (McCluskey) Bottoms , and father, Lester Bottoms, grandson Connor Bottoms and his dear brother Leslee Bottoms.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Shipman Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, OK. Keith’s life was a testament to his deep love for his family, his educational pursuits, and his endless curiosity about the world. He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the joy he brought to those around him.
