The funeral service for Hollis Wayne Booker, 76, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Keith Miller will officiate. Military ceremonies will follow the service by the Silver Talon Honor Guard from Vance Air Force Base.
Hollis was born June 28, 1930, in Norman, OK to Thomas and Gladys (Smith) Booker and died Monday, June 11, 2007, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.
He attended school in Oklahoma City and Norman, OK before joining the Air Force in 1948, retiring in 1968 after spending 20 years in aircraft maintenance. During his service years, he was stationed in Oklahoma, South Carolina, France, Texas, two tours in the Philippines, Thailand, and California.
In 1954 he married Jo Lee Webb at First Baptist Church in Enid. They had two children and celebrated 53 years of marriage.
After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Serv-Air and Northrop at Vance Air Force Base as a leadman, foreman, and general foreman until 1979, when he began his business Booker�s Transmission Inc. He retired in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Lee, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Veach and her husband John; a son, Kevin Booker and his wife Pam; and grandson Kyle Booker, all of Enid; and a sister, Nadine Fournier of Portland, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and three brothers.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer and heart divisions, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
