Merle Duane “Butch” Bonsall
July 23, 1944  ~ January 7, 2023

Memorial services for Butch Bonsall, 78, of Optima, Oklahoma will be held Tuesday afternoon, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fire Station in Optima with Bill Newman officiating. Butch passed away January 7, 2023 at the Hillcrest Hospital in Pryor, Oklahoma.

Merle Duane “Butch” Bonsall was born July 23, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas to Alton and Mary Bonsall.

In the late 70’s Butch started working for Alex Hofferber at Hofferber Truck Line. He hauled cattle until 1995. Butch also worked for Kip Duncan at Duncan Trucking Company, helping in the shop. In 2001 he started working at Seaboard in ground maintenance, retiring in 2014.

Butch enjoyed deer hunting and reloading ammunition. He was very talented at building and fixing anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Butch is survived by his son, Arlee Bonsall and wife, Catherine; grandson, Benjamin Bonsall of Ranchos De Taos, NM; his sister, Pat Rogers of Pryor, OK; several nieces and nephews and his good old friends in Optima.
