Charles R. Bone, 69, of McAlester, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his residence. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at Bishop Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8 at the Quinton Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Dow Pannell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Robert B. Thomas, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1098. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Charles was born on August 10, 1945 in McAlester to Frank & Helen Cargill Bone. He grew up in McAlester, Krebs, and New Mexico, and attended Quinton High School. Charles joined the United States Navy on July 13, 1964 and he was honorably discharged on July 12, 1966.
He married Susan Smith on December 5, 2000. He worked at the Army Ammunition Depot as a forklift operator for 15 years.
Charles was a member of the Krebs D.A.V. and the McAlester Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid woodworker. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Susan Bone of the home; sons & a spouse: Brian Bone of Wilburton, Jeff & Lisa Montgomery of Ardmore; daughter & spouse: Kristy & Kevin Crammer of Elgin; mother: Helen Bone of McAlester; sister: Barbara Bone of McAlester. Also, grandchildren: Dow & Hannah Goins of Stigler, Reece Maitlen of Elgin, Brianna Bone of Red Oak, Kaleb Bone of Quinton, Layla & Lily Montgomery of Ardmore; great-granddaughter: Addalyn Goins of Stigler; and sister-in-law: Sybil Bone of Krebs.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother: Donald Bone.
Pallbearers will be Dow Goins, Reece Maitlen, Darren Nash, Cole Kelly, Jim Wimberly, and Jerry Fowler.
