Ruth (Pierce) Bogart

June 26, 1916 ~ 1997

Memorial services for Ruth Pierce Bogart, 80, of Lubbock, was at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Trinity Church, Rev. Doyle Patterson and Paul Jantzen, both associate pastors, officiated.

Entombment was in the Resthaven Mausoleum under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bogart died Wednesday evening at Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born on June 26, 1916 in Gotebo, Oklahoma, she had lived in Lubbock since 1950.

She was married to Wallace Bogart in Leedey, Oklahoma.

He preceded her in death in September of 1961.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Wallace in 1976.

She was a member of the Trinity Church.

Mrs. Bogart was also a member of Trinity Primetime, Phi Sigma Alpha, the Golden Spread Chapter of the A.B.W.A., Lubbock Women's Club, Caprock China and the Lubbock Garden Club.

She had been a volunteer for the China Painting Division of the South Plains Fair for 25 years. She then served as co-superintendent during 1991 and 1992. She became superintendent in 1933.

She was a SGT in the Womens Army Corps during World War II.

Mrs. Bogart is survived by three stepdaughters, Dorothy Hudson of Cotton Center; Sylvia Price and Patsy Livingston, both of Roswell, New Mexico; foster daughter, Jean Ann Nalley of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; brother, Celo Pierce of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; sister, Imogene Power of Wichita, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
