Roger Wesley Bogard born 3/3/44 in Meridian Miss. to Vinson A & Hazel M. Macy Bogard departed to his Heavenly Home on Mon Feb 19, 2018 at the Renaissance Assisted Living in Sherman, Tx. Roger graduated from Ada, Ok high school & entered the US Army in June 1962, serving 4 years on active duty during the Viet Nam conflict working in photography. After discharge he worked in retail sales in Ca, Tx, & Utah.
Roger married Carolyn Sipes in Dec 1962 in Casa Grand, Arizona. From this union was born two sons, Aaron Lee & Wesley Ray; also 5 grandchildren. He married Flora Little in Dec 1983 in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death in Jan 2010.
Roger accepted Jesus as his Lord & Savior & was always eager to share his salvation with others. His education included an Assoc in Science, Mt San Antonio Community College, LA County Ca 1974 & a Bachelor of Religious Educ. from Hannabal-La Grange College 1986. He did some pastor supply preaching in the Pauls Valley area. Roger loved to study his Bible & participated in Bible studies at every opportunity.
He attended First Baptist while living in Durant. He was a collector & his major hobby was going to garage sales in search of bargains.
His father died in 1984 in Pauls Valley & mother in 2010 in Durant. Survivors include sons Aaron Lee Bogard of Carmichael Ca & Wesley Ray Aplin of Vancouver, Wa. Grandchildren Stephanie, Melanie & Christopher Bogard of Carmichael & Cody & Kyle Aplin of Vancouver, also brothers John R. "Dick" Bogard & wife Avon of Durant, Steve Bogard & wife Carol of McAlester, & sister Susan Burdett of Moore, Ok.
Bro James Robinson of FBC will conduct a Memorial Service on Friday Mar 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray FH. Family hour at 10:30 AM.
