Dwight David Boesiger, 81, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed from this life doing what he loved.
Dwight was born September 19, 1936 to Elmer and Bernice Boesiger in Cortland, Nebraska. He grew up living and working on a farm before attending the University of Nebraska where he received his Bachelor and Master degrees in chemical engineering. In 1961, he married his wife Margaret Ann Schwentker. Dwight's love of learning led the newly-wed couple to Iowa State University where he received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1967.
Dwight accepted a position with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville and continued his career for over 30 years primarily in Research and Development. Upon retirement in 1993, Dwight took up his second occupation as a certified flight instructor. Teaching others to fly was one of his biggest thrills and nothing made him happier than seeing his students become proficient pilots. If he was not at the airport flying, he was capturing photos of life around him, or making handcrafted wood pieces to gift to family and friends throughout the community.
He was a committed patron of the arts, an active member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, and a devoted follower of truth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Mark and Sean Boesiger; and brother Wendell Boesiger. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret; daughter, Michelle and husband, Tom of Coppell, TX; and daughter, Amy and husband, Brandon of Cypress, TX; along with two grandsons, Robert Tyler and Bo David Kerr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., April 12, at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville. Memorial gifts may be made to the "Bartlesville Community Foundation" referencing the "D.D. Boesiger Memorial" at 208 East 4th Street, Bartlesville OK, 74003 or by calling 918-337-2287.
