Ruby Nadine Blythe was born August 3, 1934, to Walter and Louise Morris at Iron Post, Oklahoma. She went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2026, in the home, surrounded by her loving family. During her childhood, Ruby continued to live in the Iron Post area and graduated in 1952 from Gypsy High School as Valedictorian of her class.
Following her graduation, she was employed by Miss Elaine Garment Factory in Bristow. She was united in marriage to Albert Clarence Blythe on February 28, 1953. After their marriage, they moved to San Joaquin, California where they lived approximately one year. Due to the prayers of Aunt Winnie Brown, they moved back to Oklahoma and gave their hearts to the Lord. They soon became members of Gypsy Holiness church where they attended the rest of their lives.
Ruby and Albert prayed that God would allow them to be parents, vowing to raise their children in the fear of the Lord. That prayer was answered as God blessed their union with two sons, David and Mark, and one daughter, Donna.
Ruby developed cancer on her face in 1973, and the Lord dealt with her to trust Him for her healing. Five years passed and her condition worsened. But one night, the Lord sent the Millikin family to Gypsy. Bro Jim Millikin had battled the same type of cancer and at the end of his sermon, he asked Sister Ruby to come forward for prayer. He rebuked the cancer in the name of Jesus, and she was miraculously healed!
For many years, Ruby was secretary and treasurer of the church and she kept meticulous records. If the church books were off track by one penny, she would labor over the books until that penny was accounted for. She was always a part of church activities including quilting bees, suppers, fried pie sales, etc. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and if she ever said, “I'm praying for you,” you could mark it down that Heaven was hearing your name.
Some of her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and genealogy. She was very detail oriented with family history, church history, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. She loved to collect obituaries and due to this interest, the family decided to slip one of her own obituaries into her precious hands. Ruby cooked countless meals for preachers and missionaries, fulfilling Paul's description in 1 Corinthians 16:15 of those who had “addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints.” Some of her specialties in cooking were her homemade noodles, her pie crust, oven baked chicken, homemade bread, and her cheese roll that she always served at church dinners. She hosted her whole family every Sunday for lunch until her health began to decline.
Due to complications, she spent many days and weeks at St John's Ascension hospital and rehab in Sapulpa. Through her kind, gentle ways, she quickly won the hearts of the nurses who agreed that she was their favorite patient. Two days before she passed, she began to talk of her husband and many loved ones waiting in Heaven. She quoted the old hymn, “What a gathering of the faithful that will be!” At 2:30 am on Monday morning, her daughter, Donna, told her that she would soon be with Jesus. She replied, “Whenever He's ready for me.” These were her last words before she slipped into His loving arms around 4:00 that afternoon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Louise Morris; two brothers, Donald and Roy Joe Morris; one sister, Donna Sue Low, and her husband Albert. Also worth mentioning are some children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who moved to Heaven before their birth.
She is survived by her son David and wife Diana, son Mark, and wife Sheryl, and daughter Donna. Grandchildren: Sandy, Andrea, Richard, Ashley, Adrina, Trent, Amanda, Tearle and Alecia. Great-grandchildren: Paige, Leah, Alexis, Natalie, Noelle, Aiden, Nolan, Brooke, Addalyn, Levi, Archer, Nora, Wyatt, Jessie, Abram, and Walker; Sisters: Betty Byars, Mary Carlton, Doris Mudgett, Ellen Smith and Judy Anderson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends
Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 4:00-7:00PM at the Gypsy Holiness Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM Monday, January 12, 2025 at the Gypsy Holiness Church.
