Stanley Lee Blundell, 78, of Kingfisher, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 14, 2022. Stanley was born in Pauls Valley on Jan. 22, 1944, to Hester and Peggy (Huffman) Blundell.

Stanley was a 1962 graduate of Healdton High School, excelling in football, baseball and track.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for seven years, six months active (1962-1969).

On April 4, 1969, Stanley married Kathy Susan McCreight.

He started his work in the oil field with his father while in high school. In 1968, he went to work for Texaco.

While working for Texaco, Stanley worked his way up from a roustabout to a production superintendent with stops in Lone Grove, McLeansboro, Ill., and Salem, Ill., then Hominy before finally settling in Kingfisher in 1979.

In 1982 Stanley went to work for Woods Petroleum, which changed hands to Sunshine Mining & Sonat.

Along the way, Stanley earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University in 1991. He loved to hunt and fish with his sons, relatives and friends. He was also a lover of animals, even at one point attempting to ride bulls.

Throughout his life, he spent a lot of time doing ranch work with his relatives in southern Oklahoma. After retirement, he began his own horse operation.

Stanley loved sports and while his kids were growing up, he was active in organizing the Kingfisher Little League baseball and soccer leagues and KHS All-Sports.

Most recently, he volunteered working for the Kingfisher baseball concession stand, where he was beloved by many current and former Yellowjackets.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Kathy; sisters Mary Helen Head of Longview, Texas, and Jayne Reid (Bobby) of Ringling; sons Stan Blundell (Misty) of Kingfisher and Steven Blundell (Cathy) of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Lyndsey Anderson (Ryan) of Houston, grandson Blake Hopson of Healdton, grandson Rhett Blundell (Natalie) of Clinton, grandson Dylan Blundell (Tiffany) of Kingfisher, granddaughter Allie Carter (Weston) of Kingfisher, grandsons Christopher Blundell and Jaxson Blundell of Houston and Isaac Fernandez of Houston; great-grandsons Logan Anderson, Lincoln Blundell, Luke Blundell and Mattox Blundell and great-granddaughters Layla and Emma Rocke and Avery Carter.
