Iona May "Onie" (Canipe) Block, 72, of Blanchard, died Friday, October 24, 2014 in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Paul Cecil Canipe and Mary Bell (Conaway) Canipe, she was born February 1, 1942 in Belva, Oklahoma.
Onie was a Baptist in faith and was a member of The United Rubber Workers Union, Local 9989. She retired from Dayton Tire after many years of service. Onie married Patrick Joseph Block in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 2011. In her spare time, Onie enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and feeding and watching the birds, squirrels, and other animals that came into her yard. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her great grandson, Dylan.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Onie is survived by her husband, Patrick Block of Blanchard; one daughter, Patrice Meeks and husband, Tim, of Blanchard; two granddaughters, Amy Stanley and husband, Evan, of Blanchard and Brittney Meeks of Oklahoma City; one great grandson, Dylan Stanley of Blanchard; one sister, Pauline Carley of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Buddy Canipe and Gary Canipe, both of Oklahoma City; and many other loved ones and friends.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
