Kenneth Ray Blan, or “Spud” as he was known by family and friends, went home to be with our Lord on August 6, 2020 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 81. Kenneth was born in Bakersfield, California on May 9, 1939 to Virgil and Willie “Bill” (Thompson) Blan.
Kenneth was raised in the Antlers area, and returned to the community he loved upon retirement from a career with the Soil Conservation Service. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) and Kansas State University, as well as earning his law degree at Mississippi College.
Above all things, Kenneth loved the Lord. He accepted Christ as his Savior at Fort Thompson, a mission of First Baptist Church in Antlers. He was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of Gideons International, dedicated to making sure every person had access to the Bible. He was also active in the community, having served on the boards of Pushmataha County Hospital, the Pushmataha County Conservation District, and Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bill Blan; his brothers Virgil Blan Jr. and Thomas Gordon “Dinger” Blan: his step-son Leslie “Pete” Harrison and his beloved first wife Mary Alice “Judy” Blan. He is survived by his beautiful wife Rebecca (Harrison) Blan; his brother Robert Blan and wife Delores; his sister Patsy Martin; his children Kenneth Blan II and wife Elaine, DeAnne Fortenberry and husband Frank; Joseph Blan and wife Debbie, and Linda Byford; his step-children Regina (Harrison) Wade and her husband Archie, and Lonnie (“Buddy”) Harrison and his wife Almira. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include: Koltyn Blan, Daniel Byford, Michael Byford, Adam Fortenberry, Chris Fortenberry, Josh Cashion and Cole Wade.
Funeral Services for Kenneth Blan are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Service and will be held 2:00PM, Monday, August 10th, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Antlers, Oklahoma.
