Chester Roy "Chet" Blackledge

Chester Roy "Chet" Blackledge
July 8, 1931 ~ August 14, 2020

Chester "Chet" Roy Blackledge, 89, of Oklahoma City, passed away August 14th, 2020 after losing his battle with complications due to COVID-19.

Born July 8th, 1931, one of 9 children to Haskell Blackledge and Mildred Hockett Blackledge, Chet was raised in Jet, Oklahoma. In high school, he was captain of his football team and President of his senior class and FFA. He was a "go-to" person if you needed help. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War as an Aircraft Mechanic. He served at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, then Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, and Lackland AFB in San Antonio. While stationed in San Antonio, Chet met and married Lois Klingsporn and moved to Oklahoma City. They had two children, Brian Lee, aged 61, and Kirk Alan, aged 59. Chet and Lois were married for 10 years. He later married Nancy Hamlet and lived in Oklahoma City for the remainder of his life.

After serving in the military, Chet attended Oklahoma City University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He went on to start several computer data processing companies and developed accounting and payroll software for corporations such as Hobby Lobby, Love's Country Stores, and Sonic. At age 51, Chet sold his companies and retired, and spent the rest of his life enjoying retirement and traveling the country with wife Nancy in their RV.

He is survived by sons Brian Lee Holt of Oklahoma City and Kirk Alan Blackledge Holt, a long-time resident of Tulsa who recently moved to Guthrie. Survivors also include siblings: Paul Blackledge and his wife, Verla, of Jet; Elsie Blackledge Tarrant of Jet; Alice Blackledge Dunsworth of Enid; and Harold Blackledge of Watonga; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and by his close friend, Ann Swain of Yukon.

He is pre-deceased by his parents and siblings: D. Eugene, William "Bill", Keith, and L. Wayne.

His wish was to be cremated and have his ashes scattered. Memorial service is pending.
