James Miles Black “Miles”, was born November 20th 1956 in Pawhuska Oklahoma to Virginia and Jim Black. He grew up in Pawhuska and in Bartlesville Oklahoma, where he graduated from College High School in 1975. As a teenager, Miles was in ROTC, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Miles had many hobbies, including, fishing, hunting, camping, flying planes and attending many, many fly-ins throughout the years. He was a proud lifetime member of Antique Airplane Association.
Miles worked at Phillips Petroleum company in the mailroom in Bartlesville. Then on to Cessna as an airplane mechanic in Independence Kansas. In his years before retirement, Miles worked as airline maintenance
Miles is survived by his mother Virginia Black of Bartlesville, his two children: Eric Black (wife Katie Black) of Bartlesville, and Nicole James (husband Jacob James SR) of Ramona, his five grandchildren: Emma Black, Jacob James JR, Weston James, Amy Black, and Allison Black. Many cousins, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Miles is preceded in death by his father Jim Black of Bartlesville.
The family plans to hold a private memorial service for Miles at a later date.
