Karen Marie (Gumpert) Bixler

Karen Marie (Gumpert) Bixler
May 09, 1947 ~ September 04, 2016

Karen Marie Bixler, 69, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 9, 1947 to Robert and Catherine Gumpert. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas where she attended and graduated from Bishop Meige High School.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Catherine Gumpert, as well as her in-laws, Virgil and Grace Bixler.

Karen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Bixler of Blanchard; son, Jeff and wife, Volynne Bixler of Humansville, Missouri; son, Rich and wife, Jenn Bixler of Cape Coral, Florida; daughter, Michelle and husband, Mark McIntyre of El Reno, Oklahoma; her brother in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Charlotte Bixler of Welda, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Karen worked for the Marine Corp Reserve Support Command and retired in 2006.

Karen and Paul were introduced by their parents. She married the love of her life and her best friend. They remained happily married for 51 years and those years were full of so much love and laughter. They set a great example of what a marriage should be.

Karen and Paul loved to travel. They went on many cruises and spent their winters in South Texas. She enjoyed laughing, going to casinos, tending to her flowerbeds, and spending time with family and friends. She also had a knack for decorating and landscaping. Together, Karen and Paul are known as what we call dog people. They have so much love for their dogsso much love that she often called her grandchildren by their dogs names and then proceeded to laugh so hard that everyone else couldnt resist but to join in! Her laugh was contagious. Karen met no stranger and was kind to everyone she came in contact with. She found a way to have fun with everything she did, whether it be sitting outside on the porch enjoying the weather, or going to happy hours with Paul and their friends.

Karen was a wonderful woman and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com
