Joan (Alsip) Neu Birkes
September 18, 1936 ~ May 25, 2024

Joan Alsip Neu Birkes, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born September 18, 1936, in Chandler. She departed this life on May 25, 2024, at her home at the age of 88 years.

Joan was the daughter of Jesse Marion and Zelda Mae (Saulsberry) Alsip. She graduated from Chandler High School in 1954. Joan married Jimmy Barham Birkes on January 31, 1974, in Chandler. Her first job was working at Alsip Lumber and Concrete in Chandler, she later worked as a Florist for many years and was owner/manager of rental properties. Joan loved going to casinos and playing keno. She will be greatly missed.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Birkes; parents, Jesse and Zelda Alsip; two brothers, Tom Alsip and Dale Alsip.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Neu of Chandler; two brothers, David Alsip and wife Denise of Chandler, Danny Alsip and wife Rinda of Chandler; three granddaughters, Brittany, Stevi, and Maggie; three great-grandsons, other relatives and many friends.
