Bette Jo (Hunt) Billen

March 30, 1955 ~ Feb. 21, 2015

Bette Jo Billen, 59, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015. She was born March 30, 1955, in Pasco, Wash., to Athel Preston and Mary Lou Hunt.

Bette graduated from Jet Nash and held a BS in elementary education from Northwestern University, but chose to enter the field of retail sales management.

She was united in marriage to Mark Billen on July 18, 1992. Together they raised son, Patrick Billen and daughter, Mary Tibbits.

After several years in sales, Bette became a stay-at-home grandmother to her beloved grandson Nate (Boo) Billen.

After failing health, Bette moved into a nursing home. While a resident there, she assumed an active role in helping with the activities department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Mary Lou Hunt; her father-in-law, Corky Billen; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Billen and Terry Clark.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Billen of Bethany; daughter, Mary Tibbits of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Michelle Billen of Yukon; her only grandchild, Nate “Boo” Billen of Edmond; mother-in-law, Margret Billen of Oklahoma City; brothers, Leonard (Sue) Hunt and Bill Hunt and David (RaeAnn) Hunt; sisters, Bonnie Alexander, Brenda Clark and Diane Hunt; stepbrothers, Mike Burgess and Mark Burgess; stepsister, Marsha (Sam) Smart; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is pending.

In Lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the Diabetes Foundation.

Service is under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Edmond, Okla. (Submitted by family)
