Roye Bigpond

Roye Bigpond
May 21, 1940 ~ November 24, 2020

Roye Bigpond was born May 21, 1940 to Wiley and Ollie Bigpond in Depew, Oklahoma. He departed this life November 24, 2020 at the age of 80 years 6 months and 3 days.

Roye grew up in and around the Depew/Bristow area and was currently residing in Stroud. A graduate of Depew High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Though Roye traveled; this area was always home. He worked for Allied Refinery as a blow still operator for many years until his retirement. Loving the outdoors, Roye always had a project to work on, but always found time to fish and hunt. Guided by his love for animals, he found all nature captivating. His two most favorite dogs, Moe and Happy, whom he cared for through their old age left him earlier this year. Most important to Roye was his relationships with family and friends. He especially loved family gatherings as well as attending the Stroud Pow-Wow every year.

Roye is survived by one sister, Shelia Factor of Stroud and brother, Michael Bigpond of Bristow; three nephews, Elgin Kenneth Factor Jr and Christopher and Jeffrey Hale; two great-nephews, Ronald Gene Shockley Jr. and Hunter Andrew Ross; two great-nieces, Tessa and Hailey Shockley; two great-great Nephews, Michael Shockley and Braden Howlingcrane as well as, a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Samuel Bigpond, Wiley Lee Bigpond Jr. and Bobby Gene Bigpond Sr; one sister, Bonnie Jean Bigpond Hale; one niece, Angela Kay Ross and great niece, Christian Collette Shockley.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Hutchins Maples Matherly Chapel with Reverend Paul Fixico officiating.
