Shirley Susan Biggs age 68 of Purcell, formerly of OKC, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her home. Shirley was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death.
She was born May 4, 1947 in Talahina, Oklahoma. She was the 2 nd child of nine children born to Amos Harjo and Lucy (Harjo) Larney.
Shirley grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Central High School. She later met and married the love of her life, Allen Biggs. They were married on August 29, 1975 in Midwest City. Together, Shirley and Allen raised two daughters, Johnnice and Stephanie, while living in the Oklahoma City area.
Shirley worked many years for CECO Incorporated. Throughout her life, Shirley was an avid softball player and fan of the game. In her younger years of playing the game, she was an standout pitcher. For many years she played softball games all over Oklahoma, playing in women's and coed tournaments. While her children were growing up and even later as her grandchildren started playing ball, she and Allen were their number one fans. In 2009, they moved to Purcell, to be close to their grandchildren. Her greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with her grandkids, Boston and Taryn. Shirley was also an avid O. U. sports fan. She and Allen enjoyed attending, as often as they could, all the different sporting events of the Oklahoma Sooners. Shirley will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Amos and Lucy Harjo; One sister, Betty Harjo; Three brothers, Leroy, Bobby and David Harjo;
She is survived by: Husband, Allen Biggs of the home in Purcell; Two daughters, Johnnice Steele of Purcell, Stephanie Knowles and husband Justin of Purcell; Two grandchildren, Boston and Taryn Knowles, Four brothers, Leon Harjo of Mustang, Arthell Harjo of OKC, Joseph Harjo of OKC; Christopher Harjo of OKC; Two sisters-in-law, Karen Caplinger and husband Howard of Peidmont, Myrt Willis and husband Don of OKC; Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
