Henry Bierig Jr. was born on January 23, 1932, to Henry and Katherine Haffner Bierig in Enid.
The first eight years of his education were in a one-room county school one mile south of the home where he grew up. He then graduated from Okeene High School in 1949. After graduating, he began farming.
On December 10, 1950, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Lamle. After marrying Charlotte, they made their home where Henry grew up, and Henry's parents moved to Okeene. From this marriage they had two children: Jackie and Kirt. Henry, also known by many as Junior "Junie," remained on the family homestead for 27 years farming, running a dairy, and ranching. They moved into their dream home that they built in 1977, and it is still in the family today.
He took great pride in his registered Hereford cattle, which he raised and bred for many years. He also took great pride in his method of farming and selling many thousand bushels of certified wheat to area farmers. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he received the Farmer and Rancher of the Year in Blaine County in 2008.
During his lifetime he was involved in many local organizations and served on the Ames Elevator Board for nine years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Okeene, and after retirement he became a member of the Central Christian Church in Fairview. At both churches he served as deacon, elder, and on multiple committees.
Henry and Charlotte loved to travel and were fortunate enough to travel all over the world. Two of his fondest memories of traveling was when he was able to take his entire family on a trip to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary and a Caribbean cruise for their 60th wedding anniversary. Henry and Charlotte were married 71 years as of December 10, 2021.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherine Bierig; four brothers, Raymond Bierig, Harvey Bierig, and two brothers who died at birth, Samuel and Louis.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Jackie Reed of Grapevine, Texas; son, Dr. Kirt Bierig and his wife Cynthia of Okeene. He had six grandchildren and their spouses, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-grand dogs.
