Linda Sue Bethel, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday October 7, 2017 in Shidler. Linda was born January 14, 1939 to Alfred Lewis Thomison and Hazel Wahaneta Casto Thomison in Tuxedo, OK.
On September 10, 1953 she married Melvin L. Bethel in Pawhuska, OK. They had 7 children together. She worked in various positions for Shidler Public Schools for over 40 years, and spent her lifetime caring for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To all who knew and loved her, she was affectionately known as "Grandma Linda."
Grandma Linda loved to travel and go camping; she spent many days and nights traveling by motorhome or pulling a camper. She didn't have to go far to enjoy herself; she was just as content on the lake a few miles from home as she was winding through the mountains in Colorado. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Her happiest days were spent surrounded by her loved ones, who were always eager to hear one more story or funny joke.
Linda is survived by her husband Melvin, of the home; her daughters Sue Ballard and husband Symon of Bartlesville, and Cindy Falder and husband Ken of Pawhuska; her son John Bethel of Shidler; her brother Boyd Thomison and wife Ellen of Fairfax; her sisters Joyce Mehl and husband Ray of Redmond, WA, Anita Nail and husband Don of Kingfisher, and Jayne Thomas and husband Cactus of Kingfisher; her best friend and "adopted" sister Carolyn Long; her grandchildren Megan and Charlie Bethel of Shidler, as well as dozens of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her.
Linda was preceded in death by her son Charles Bethel, daughters Melinda Kerr, Jeanne Lewis, and Michelle Wise, her mother and father Wahaneta Casto Thomison and Alfred Thomison and her sister Lorilla Ann Thomison.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Shidler United Methodist Church with Bill Long presiding.
Arrangements are under the direction of McCartney's Johnson Funeral Home of Pawhuska.
