Jessica Don Besett, now has peace, after passing away on May 2, 2023. She was the only child of Don and Judith Besett. She entered life on June 5, 1976.
Jessica graduated from Newcastle High School, where she was president of the Future Business Leaders of America and of the Science Club. She received many academic awards and was Valedictorian of her class. She was a cheerleader and also played the flute in the band. Her dad never missed a football game to hear and see her “hoot and toot”. Jessica attended OSU studying chemical engineering and worked at Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX for two summers during college.
While at OSU she also played the flute in the Cowboy Marching Band and in the concert band. She received the Outstanding Non-Music Major Award. Jessica continued her education at OU earning degrees in computer science and accounting. In her later years Jessica worked at the Pioneer Library System in Norman as a library assistant. She enjoyed reading and always learning new things. Jessica designed and graphed her own quilt patterns. She had a giving heart and gave her quilts to others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Don Besett.
Survivors include her mother Judith Besett, her aunt Patty Nicely, uncle Bill Besett and several cousins and friends.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 15, 2023 at McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church, Norman, OK.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to McFarlin Memorial United Church, 419 S. University Blvd. Norman, OK 73069 or to the American Diabetes Association of Oklahoma, 7000 N. Western Ave. OKC, OK 73116.
