Doris Virginia Bernard

April 16, 1940 ~ Nov. 9, 2003

Doris Virginia Bernard died Nov. 9, 2003, in her West Sacramento home after a short battle with lung cancer. She was 63.

Born April 16, 1940, in Oklahoma, she was a homemaker. She lived in Yolo County for 40 years.

She is survived by daughter Starla June Gomez, sons Roy Lavon Swearengin and Carl Willis Swearengin, sisters Deloris Nellie Bliss of West Sacramento and Darlene Wanda Cortez of Reno, Nev., brothers Alfard Lee Thomas of West Sacramento and Ray Dean Thomas of Reno, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private family service is planned.

Her family requests memorial gifts in her name to Yolo Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is in charge of arrangements.
