Thomas Earl Benson Jr., "Tommy", age 56, lifelong resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at his home in Tecumseh.
He was born August 17, 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Thomas Benson and Carol Marie (Boyd) Benson.
Tommy was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1984 from Earlsboro High School.
Tommy started masonry work at age 17, later beginning Benson Masonry in Tecumseh OK. He truly loved his profession and was a perfectionist. He worked mainly in Oklahoma but also ventured out into the surrounding states. He was proud of his outdoor kitchens and french drains. His name was definitely known around the industry. Tommy continued to work until his time of passing.
He was a member and attended Sharon Baptist Church for 20 years.
Tommy was a lifetime OU fan and a professional meteorologist in his eyes. He enjoyed collecting anything about lizards, Tommy even had a pet iguana. His favorite number is 14. He loved to bowl and was in a bowling league for 20 years, he also enjoyed shooting pool.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Marie Fruit; his step-father, WJ "Sonny" Beddo; and step-sister, Tayna "Gidget" Beddo.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharlet DNae Huff and husband Jason of Bethel Acres, OK; his father, Thomas Earl Benson; sister, Pamela Benson of Moore, OK; brother, John Beddo and wife Stephanie of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Axton Huff; step-father, David Fruit of Tecumseh, OK; and other extended family and friends, including Uncle Billy Boyd of Tecumseh, OK.
Memorial Service will be Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
