Richard L. Benning

Richard L. Benning
January 28, 1933 ~ October 21, 2018

Richard L. Benning, 85, lifelong Coffeyville resident, died Sunday in Bartlesville.

Richard was born the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Mavers) Benning on January 28, 1933, in Coffeyville, KS. He was raised and lived in the Coffeyville area his entire life.

Richard farmed and ranched his land for a living but his true passion in life was coon hounds and mules. He trained his own hounds and mules and he traveled throughout the United States, entering them in shows and competitions. Just recently one of his hounds won a championship trophy at the World Championship in Lima, Ohio over Labor Day weekend. He loved his mules - he would ride them while hunting and he trained them for the various jumping competitions he would take them to.

Richard is survived by his son Mike Benning of Coffeyville, and special friend and partner Sandra Webb, also of Coffeyville. He is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

No formal services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
