Alden E. "Beck" Beckworth died on Sunday, July 16, at 1:43 p.m. at his home in Bartlesville. He was 89.

Beck was born on March 14, 1928 in Belton, Missouri, the son of the late Albert and Clara (Stark) Beckworth. During his early years, he lived with his family in Clovis, New Mexico, Amarillo, Texas, and the Bakersfield, California area. The family moved to Bartlesville before Beck began high school, and he graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1946. He was married to Alvina "Peach" Burton on January 12, 1949, in Bartlesville.

Prior to and after high school, Beck worked for Love Bottling Company. In 1950, he began his career with the Research Division of Phillips Petroleum Company, retiring in 1985. He won numerous awards from both companies for outstanding service and creative endeavors. Beck and Alvina enjoyed many activities together, including riding and repairing Harley Davidson motorcycles, and bowling in leagues and tournaments. They helped to found the Bartlesville Ski-Poppers water ski club and they were active in the Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. Beck loved sports and loved working with young people, and for many years he coached women and girls' softball, Youth Bowling Association bowling, and Little League baseball.

Beck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and quail and turkey hunting. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and dominoes, watching football games, camping, and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #610 in Bartlesville for many years. He loved hamburgers with extra onions and was very fond of dogs, especially cocker spaniels.

Beck is survived by his wife Alvina of the home, his son Alan Beckworth and his wife Donna of Bartlesville, his daughters Arlene Shelley and her husband Fred of Norman and Annie Collins and her partner Linda Woldridge of Tulsa, his grandchildren Amy Beckworth, Nicholas Beckworth, Alix Larson and her husband Erik, Eddie Stapleton, Andrew Shelley, Nikki Collins, and Staci Collins-Walton and her husband Monte, his great-grandchildren Jenna Stapleton, Jackson Stapleton, Malachi Walton, Zach Larson, and Luke Larson, his sister-in-law Ellie Ingersol and her husband John, his brothers-in-law Sam Burton and his wife Norma and Tom Burton, his best friend Stan Norfleet and his wife Lola of Bartlesville, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Beck's life will be held on Sunday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles' lodge building at 110 West Second Street in Bartlesville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Washington County SPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
