Charles Evans Beckham Sr., 60, passed away on September 17, 2013 surrounded by family.
Charles was born in 1953, in the great town of Shawnee, Oklahoma to Raymond and Unice Doshier Beckham.
Although he was born in Shawnee, he was raised in the Stroud/Chandler area.
After going to school, Charles moved out to Cushing to start working in the oilfield as a roughneck.
On June 28, 1975 Charles married his best friend, Cindy Riggins in Davenport, Oklahoma but separated later in life.
Charles worked in the oilfield until 1998, when he moved to Stillwater to work at Brooner's Floor Center laying tile and carpet.
He enjoyed being outside, either working on cars or hunting in the great outdoors. You could always find Charles doing one of his hobbies by himself or with friends and family. He really loved spending every moment with his family, which included watching his kids and grandkids play all sorts of sports.
Charles is remembered as a humorous, laid-back, caring, and thoughtful guy. People also need to know that he was strong and a fighter. His life was not an easy one; Charles was in a very serious car accident and was in a coma for quite some time. After getting out of the coma he had to teach himself to talk and to walk, which was no easy task. But, with all of the hard work Charles did get back to the way people knew him before the accident.
Charles was tested once again in life by being diagnosed with cancer. Charles fought hard, and never gave up. Through all these tough times in his life, Charles still made time for his family, kids, and grandkids. He and his family never stopped loving and supporting each other.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Unice Doshier Beckham; sister, Karen; and several step brothers and sisters; and his partner in life, Cathy Dillard.
Survivors include his three children, Sharla Beckham Olguin and husband, Danny of Stillwater, Shelli Beckham Caceres and husband, Juan of Stillwater and Charles Beckham Jr. and Whitney Bell of Stillwater; two siblings, Donna Beckham and Arlene Morford and five grandchildren, Katelynn Olguin, Joce Gonzales, Caleb Beckham, Brayden Beckham and Amya Bell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
