Mitylene May (Peters) Becker
Saturday, July 12th, 1924 - Friday, January 31st, 2020

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.

Mitylene May Peters Becker was born July 12th, 1924 to Francis S. and Dorthy Peters in Meadville, Pennsylvania at a record 24 inches long. She had a younger brother Glenn E. who was a very gifted drummer all his life in a musical family. She graduated from Meadville High School in 1942 and started working for two dentists . In February 1943 she went to the famous Philadelphia General School of Nursing and became a WWII cadet nurse. She graduated in May 1946 and worked as an assistant supervisor for the Doctor Nurses Infirmary. She went to Oklahoma City VA Hospital at Will Rogers Field in October 1946. She attended Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University and moved with the VA Hospital into the city NE 13th location in 1953. She retired as a medical supervisor after almost 25 years of duty.

She was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church for 70 years and at a wedding she met Robert E. Becker. They were married April 22nd, 1957 at St. Lukes United Methodist Church and were able to travel for many years. Each of the fifty states had a special place.

She was a caring person especially for her dear husband who died March 13th, 2006 after years of failing health. An active member of former Chappell Class and then triquestor church classes, PEO, ABWA, and Lace Guild of Oklahoma, and Rev. Brian Bakemans disciple classes for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and cousins. She is survived by relatives from Pennsylvania and Ohio and many special friends in Oklahoma City.

Services will be conducted at St. Lukes Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. Dave Poteet officiating. Her body will then be flown to Meadville, Pennsylvania for a chapel service and interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Lukes Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Stone United Methodist Church in Meadville, Pennsylvania, or a donation of donors choice.
