Sydney (Gray) Beasley
May 12, 1937 ~ August 1, 2022

Sydney Gray Beasley, of Bartlesville, died Monday, August 1, 2022, at the age of 85. She was surrounded and comforted by family members at Heritage Villa Skilled Nursing Center.

The daughter of Frances (Hagood) and Anthony O’Kelley Gray, Sydney was born on May 12, 1937, in Cushing, Oklahoma. She graduated from Cushing High School before attending Oklahoma State University where she met and married Edward Almond Beasley, Jr. on September 2, 1956.

Sydney was an avid and accomplished seamstress. She was a member of the Bartlesville Smocking Guild where she created smocked and heirloom clothing and accessories for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking, creating beautiful, intricate cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. Sydney was active in the community volunteering her time at the Kiddie Park, Bartlesville Public Schools, and the First Presbyterian Church. She was a lifelong volunteer at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church including work in the altar guild and bookstore. She worked for the First Presbyterian Church and Elder Care. Sydney was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frances (Hagood) and Anthony O’Kelley Gray and parents-in-law Marjorie (Gudgel) and Edward Almond “Bill” Beasley.

Sydney was married for 65 years to Edward Almond Beasley, Jr. who survives of the home. Other survivors are: daughter Susan Beasley (Micheal) Hunt, and two grandchildren Elizabeth Hunt (Andrew) Hedrick and Jonathan Edward (Julia) Hunt; son Edward Gray (Heba) Beasley, and four grandchildren Sharif Lee (Natalie) Gray, Hassan Alexander Gray, Bessma Gray, Laila Grace Gray; and daughter Sarah Beasley (Joseph) Novak and three grandchildren, Margaret Frances (Tony) Novak, Audrey Elyse Novak, and Mary Elizabeth (Michael) Zapalac. Sydney was blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 11 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Nicholas I. Phares officiating.
