Dora Mae (Sprouse) Battin

Dora Mae (Sprouse) Battin, 95, of Nowata, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 30, 2019.

Dora was born June 26, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas to parents Samuel and Elizabeth M. Sprouse. She graduated from Chetopa High School in 1943.

She married Edward P. “Pete” Battin on January 19, 1947 and the couple was married for 42 years.

Dora was known for having a servant’s heart, for encouraging and helping, and always made special occasions very special for family and friends. She loved to sew, bake, cook, garden, and decorate cakes. She was always involved in church activities and maintained her daily Bible study time. She also loved to send greeting cards for special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dorothy Ramsey and one grandson Philip Reader.

Dora is survived by her daughters Sonja Brown of Nowata and Virginia Reader of Grandview, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to
